Demetria Devonne Lovato, professionally known as Demi Lovato, was born in the US city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, August 20, 1992, being the daughter of Dianna Bonheur Hart De La Garza and Patrick Lovato, who separated in 1994. After divorce, Demi moved to Dallas, Texas, with her mother and older sister, Dallas Lovato, and later a younger half-sister by mother, Madison De La Garza. Demi's mother was one of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and recorded country music. Lovato has Mexican, Italian and Irish descent. She finished high school in April 2009.
Lovato began her career at the age of nine, playing Angela in children's television series Barney and Friends, between the sixth and eighth seasons.
